The NFL Player Care Foundation Healthy Body and Mind Cardiovascular Research Program

Dr. Elizabeth ''Beth'' Smith is an instructor at the Tulane School of Medicine and lead researcher for the Center for Sport's Professional Athlete Care Team. Dr. Smith manages all research, including research for the NFL Player Care Foundation Healthy Body and Mind Screening Program. This research focuses on the cardiovascular disease risk of former professional football players, including diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and sleep apnea. The goal of this research is to advance scientific understanding of this athlete population and improve their quality of life by providing physicians with valuable information aboutthe unique healthcare needs of retired athletes.
