National Girls and Women in Sports Day

As part of TIME FOR IX, the Sports Lawyers Association’s recognition of the 50th anniversary of Title IX, we are pleased to invite you to join us for a special celebration commemorating National Girls and Women in Sports Day. This virtual event will have two components – the first will feature one-on-one interviews with four accomplished women in sports who are advocates for gender equity. These four distinguished women are:

·    Samantha Amos – Former member of the Duke University Women’s Volleyball team, and current law student at Suffolk University

·    Melissa Goldenberg – Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the Phoenix Suns

·    China Jude – Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Denver Broncos

·    Nina King – Vice President and Director of Athletics for Duke University

The second part of the program will include a series of breakout rooms facilitated by SLA Board members to further discuss the experiences and issues raised by the feature interviews, including the progress made under Title IX and where we are headed. This event will be a vibrant celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day and we encourage those in attendance to join in their former team jerseys or other attire/symbolism which celebrates gender equity in athletics.
